The villa has been owned by the family since 2005, at the quieter end of the the Algarve it has many things to offer. We have loved exploring the local area, here are some of our favourites. There is a guest book in the Villa which contains many more ideas.
The Basics
Supermarkets and food.
In Budens, a two minute drive away, there is a well stocked Intermarche. This also stocks a lot of English favourites including a good selection of wines and beer. It is also a good place for all your BBQ favourites. A larger store can also be found around 10 minutes away in the town of Lagos.
Lidl is around a 15 minute drive towards Sagres and again is well stocked and very familiar to anyone who is a regular shopper there.
Medical and Emergency
Full information about local contact numbers is available in the Villa and in addition, during working hours, you can visit reception with any key questions.
Beaches
As with the rest of the Algarve you are spoilt for beaches and we can only encourage you to explore, especially some of the secluded beaches towards Sagres.
Salema is a 4km drive away and offers a perfect beach with access to local bars and restaurants, always a favourite for lunch and a pre dinner drink !
Praia da Luz is a 15-20 minute drive away and is a busier resort, offering a few more restaurant and bars. There is also, during the main season, water sports available ranging from pedelo to Jet Ski Hire.
Between Luz and Budens is a lovely beach with As Cabanas , a perfect place for lunch or dinner.
To the east of Lagos there is a very long beach with some brilliant restaurants as well.
Restaurants and Bars
There are so many restaurants to choose from.
A trip is not complete without visiting spikes bar, the club house for the adjacent golf course. Even if golf is not your game the views from the terrace are simply stunning.
O Tiago’s is locally owned and we highly recommend their signature Steak on the Stone.
Pizzeria D’Aldeia in Budens offers great value for money and you can either take out or eat in the cafe.
A good guide to the bars and restaurants in Salema can be found here
Especially during peak season, to avoid disappointment, we do recommend that you book in advance.
Other Activities
There are so many things to do, we have added a few below.
A visit to Sagres, the most westerly point in Europe is a good morning or afternoon trip. The area is very popular with surfers. There are many surf schools in the local area, one such example can be found here
In addition there are many costal walks which can be enjoyed, a great example can be found here
For the kids a 30 minute drive will take you to slide and splash, a great day out for all !
